Electronics & Communication Engineering – GP Palanpur
The EC department at Government Polytechnic Palanpur was established in 1994 with an initial intake of 30 students. In 2022 the department expanded by launching the Diploma in ICT (intake 78), bringing the combined annual intake to 108 students. Over three decades, the department has produced hundreds of competent diploma engineers who serve industries across Gujarat and beyond.
The 3-year diploma program is affiliated to Gujarat Technological University (GTU) and approved by AICTE. The department has submitted its Self Appraisal Report (SAR) to the National Board of Accreditation (NBA) — the peer team site visit is pending.
With 8+ qualified faculty, 9 well-equipped laboratories, and strong industry connections, the department provides a holistic learning environment that balances theory and practical exposure.

“EC department was established at this polytechnic in the year 1994. In the present technology driven era, EC engineers play an important role in almost every sphere of life being the backbone of modern communication systems — which drives Rocket Science, Internet of Things, Telecommunication, Automation, Defense, Television, VLSI Design, Nuclear Science and Bio-Technology.
Our department has modern, well-equipped laboratories covering the whole curriculum of Gujarat Technological University. The department has well-qualified, energetic young staff who are very eager to satisfy every need of students within their span in the institute.
We observe all academic and administrative procedures based on NBA (National Board of Accreditation) guidelines, which is a worldwide accepted educational standard. We always enhance the confidence of students by providing an excellent learning atmosphere with extra co-curricular activities on campus, nurturing moral values as well.

The department has submitted its SAR to NBA for Tier-2 Diploma accreditation, documenting its evidence against nine criteria worth 1000 marks. All seven Programme Outcomes and both PSOs exceeded their attainment targets in each of the three assessment years. The peer team site visit and final assessment are pending.
